John A. Petras

John A. Petras, 91, of Larksville, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008, at the Laurels Health and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston. John was born in Old Forge, a son of the late Kazimierz and Sophia Wengzien Pietras. A man of many talents, he was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter for many years. John enjoyed life and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by brothers Charles, Adam, Joseph and Henry Petras; sisters Catherine Polaski, Sophie Amendola, Helen Pahucky, Tessie Margaris and Anna Petras. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, the former Josephine (Jay) Sabola. He was the dearest father of John R. and his wife, Donna Marie, of Levittown, and the late Richard and Robert Petras. He was the loving Pop-Pop of Jonine (Drew) Dansberry, of Yardley, and David (Karina) Petras, of Boothwyn, and great-granddaughters Aubrey and Julianna Dansberry. He is also survived by devoted sisters Pearl Dolecki, of Old Forge, and Agnes (Al) Nelson, of Moncks Corners, S.C., and nieces and nephews. Funeral was Jan. 26 from the Kopicki Funeral home, 263 Zerby Avenue, Kingston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Church. Interment, parish cemetery, Dallas.
