The Greater Pittston Chamber is accepting nominations for the 2013 Healthy Workplace Awards Program.

Pittston area employers may nominate themselves, or can be nominated by a third party, by visiting, entering their county and clicking Health and Well-Being to download the form.

Nominations may also be submitted by contacting the Chamber at 570-655-1424.



There will be a European Car/ Vintage Aviation Show today, July 28 at the Wyoming Valley Airport in Forty-Fort from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show is the 11th annual show sponsored by the British Car Club of NEPA.

The airport and inclusion of the vintage aircraft are new this year.

This year, a Pittston resident, Vince Gatto has the featured car of the event: a 1929 Jaguar SS100, incredibly rare, incredibly valuable.


The Big Band Society of Northeastern Pa will have a dinner dance on Friday, Aug.2, at Genetti’s Hotel and Convention Center Wilkes Barre. This event is for members only. The doors will open at 5:45 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Music is provided by Gary Dee and Friends.

The Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce visitation committee and Women’s Network, along with the city of Pittston invite you to attend ‘Greater Pittston Community Night’ at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders PNC Field on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

The event will honor the Pittston Tomato Festival Committee and the Pittston Redevelopment Authority. Tickets are $13 and include seat, hotdog, chips and soday.

Sixty is the new 40 is the theme of the 60th birthday party for graduates, their spouses or their significant others from the class of West Side Central Catholic High School Class of 1971. Emailed invitations have been sent to those whose addresses on file.

St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 N. Main St. Pittston will hold its 17th annual flea market and ziti dinner from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 4 in the church hall.

Along with the Ziti dinner, ethnic foods such as piggies, haluska, pirohi and hot dogs at the snack bar will be available to eat in or take out. Coffee, tea and soft drinks will be available. A bake sale and money raffle will be held. Plenty of parking is available.

Ziti dinner tickets will be sold at the door.
