Anthony S. Cannella celebrated his 95th birthday on June 20.

“Tony” enjoys playing cards and bingo, going to the casino, collecting coins, playing on his computer and visiting his special friend Elizabeth (Liz) Carriero.

Tony has lived in the Pittston area most of his life but spent his teenage years in Tampa, Florida.

He served in the Armed Forces during the Second World War and was married to the former Rose Costanzo for 45 years, prior to her death in 1987.

He has three children, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. A family party will be held in his honor. He currently resides in West Pittston.

76th REUNION

The Taylor High School class of 1937 observed and proudly celebrated its 76th class reunion on Sunday, July 21 at the Raddison. Classmates in attendance were as follows: Lillian Goldstein, Duryea; Edward Grabowski, Philadelphia; Andrew Kavulich, Johnson City, N.Y.; Lyla Scalwy, Conn.; Mary Rowlands, Taylor.

The classmates enjoyed a wonderful cocktail hour followed by an exquisite dinner. There were many prizes and awards handed out.

CHOOSES RUTGERS

Nicole Viola, daughter of Michael and Yong Sun Viola of of Wayne, NJ, has elected to attend Rutgers School of Dentistry in the fall.

Miss Viola is a graduate of Boston College, where she majored in Biology. While at Boston College, she was a member of the Pre-Dental Association as well as captain of the club tennis team which achieved a ranking of 18th at the National Club Tennis Tournament in Phoenix, AZ.

Miss Viola is the granddaughter of the late Michaelangelo and Rosalie Viola of Pittston.

GRADUATES BASIC

George J. Race, of Exeter recently graduated from basic and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood Army Base in Missouri. He graduated as a member of the 787th Military Police Battalion. He is currently assigned to serve as an MP in the 26th Infantry Division at Shoefield Army Base in Oahu, Hawaii. George is the son of George and Marcia Race of Exeter.

ANNIVERSARY NOTE

Happy anniversary wishes go to Rita and Carmen Mauriello, of Exeter, who will be celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary on August 12.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Bob Sr. and Theresa Ryzner, of Duryea, who will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on August 13.

TASTING DINNER

The Peculiar Culinary Co. will hold a Pop Up Anniversary 7-course Tasting Dinner at Arturo’s Restaurant, 140 Main St., Dupont, on Aug. 12 from 6-8 p.m. The price for admission is $55 per person.

PARTY IN THE PARK

Dupont Borough will hold their annual Party in the Park at the Little League Sports Complex on Elm Street, Dupont. This year’s safari theme party will be held from 1-9 p.m. on Aug. 24. Theme shirts are availabele for $10 and come in yellow, green and orange. Raffle baskets will be available as well. Menu includes hot dogs, whimpies, french fries, hamburgs, potato salad, haluski, soda, ice cream, cake and water.
