Langans make

academic lists

Julie Langan, Pittston, made the Dean’s List for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Loyola University, Maryland.

Julie is a member of the Class of 2016. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a Loyola student must achieve higher than a 3.5, successfully completing courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits applicable to the degree. Julie is a graduate of Scranton Prepatory School.

Joseph Langan, Pittston, made the President’s List for academic excellence during the 2013 Spring Term at Lackawanna College.

This honor is reserved for those individuals who achieve a cumulative quality point index of 3.5 or better for at least 24 earned Lackawanna College credits. Joseph is a graduate of Holy Cross High School, Dunmore.

Locals receive diplomas

Two West Wyoming residents received degrees from King’s College during the College’s recent summer commencement ceremony.

Dianne Figura received a master of education degree in reading. Kristine Supey received a bachelor of arts degree in education and graduated magna cum laude. King’s College is a Catholic College sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center announces newborns:

A girl was born to Carrie Strucke and Brian Keller of West Pittston on August 16.

A boy was born to Tiffany Nguyen and Vincent Bucci of Avoca on August 23.

A girl was born to Kristy and Britain Gazda of Exeter on August 28.
