Founders of Duryea website honored

Bernie Stiroh and Michael Lizonitz, founders of, were honored by Duryea Mayor Keith Moss at borough council’s recent meeting. The men received a mayoral certificate in recognition of creating a pictorial history of the town. The website contains information and pictures pertaining to the history of the borough and the people who settled there, up to the people residing there in the early 1960s. It also contains thousands of documents, including photos, records, mine maps, yearbooks and other historical documents. From left, are Mayor Moss and Stiroh.
