PITTSTON CENTER

The Pittston Active Adult Center, located at 441 North Main Street, Pittston announced reservation are open for “A Day in the Country” in the heart of the Pocono Mountains on Friday August 23. The trip includes motorcoach transportaion, a one hour fully narrated historic sightseeing fully enclosed tour, luncheon choice of beef, chicken or fish and the All Shook Up show at the Shawnee Playhouse for $75.

A 10-week weight wise class will begin on Monday, Aug. 5 from 1-2 p.m. and continue each Monday for 10 weeks. There is no charge for this class for Center members but you must pre-register with Connie by calling the center at 655-5561.

The Center is open on Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include cards, computer with internet access, bingo, exercise classes, dance class, shuffleboard, craft classes, and much more. New members are always welcome to come aboard. Asking donation for Center membership is $5 per year. Dinner is served daily at noon with reservations being made at least one day in advance by 1 p.m. Suggested donation for the meal is $2.

FALLS CENTER

A new activity is now available at the Falls Active Center. Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.

Geocaches can be found all over the world. It is common for geocachers to hide caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest or skill of the cache owner. These locations can be quite diverse. They may be at your local park, at the end of a long hike, underwater or on the side of a city street.
