Pre-school students attending The Cookie Corner recently had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the fascinating life-cycle of the butterfly.

A “Live Butterfly Garden” was donated, giving the children an chance to observe the changes in the lady caterpillars as they are and grew to 10 times their original size. The caterpillars shed their skin to form a chrysalis and, to the amazement of the children, emerge as butterflies.

This made a great addition to the science curriculum as the children learned about the butterflies’ transformation. New vocabulary words, posters, stories and crafts all added to their instruction.
