The West Pittston Historical Society will host a free program at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave.

West Pittston resident Bill Hastie and Bob Wolensky, formerly of Swoyersville and Trucksville, will speak on “Sicilian Sulfur Miners in Anthracite: A Study of Italian Mineworkers in Pittston, Old Forge, and Scranton, 1897-1935.”

The talk will be based on the authors’ recently released book “Anthracite Labor Wars (2013),” which examines a series of often violent labor conflicts in the area during the first third of the 20th century.
