The children attending the 3 and 4 year-old nursery school classes at Cookie Corner plus day care pre-schoolers recently were visited by Ms. Kim Konopka, nutrition educator with the CEO. She presented a program to help children become aware of healthy colorful foods. The USDA has replaced the term food pyramid with a new my plate term. Children learned about the importance of eating a variety of foods. Ms. Konopka created a large plate by coloring and sorting foods according to their proper food group. At the conclusion, the children used apple slices, carrots and raisins to form butterflies for snack time along with milk.
