Louise B. Collins, 88, a lifetime resident of Dupont, passed away peacefully Tuesday night, Jan.8, 2013, at Highland Manor Nursing Home, Exeter, where she had been a resident for 10 months.

Born in Dupont on March 22, 1924, Louise was one of 12 children of Michael and Elizabeth (Gorczowski) Orzech.

Louise was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church in Dupont and its Women’s Society. In her healthy years, she enjoyed making pierogis with the church women.

She graduated Dupont High School, class of 1942, and procured employment in a defense plant in Elkton Md. She returned home and was employed in Consolidated Cigar Factory, West Pittston, and later Schott Optical in Duryea.

Family was the most important part of her life, and she enjoyed every minute spent with them. Louise was a dedicated daughter, wife, sister, aunt and friend. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of loved ones.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Collins, who passed away on Aug. 8, 1982; her brothers Walter, Anthony, Michael, Edward and Thomas; her sisters, Sophie, Julia, Cecelia, Mary and Veronica Castner, who died on Dec. 3, 2012.

Louise is survived by her brother, Joseph Ozach, of Helena, Mont., and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who shared a special place in her heart and who she never forgot on important times in their lives. She will be deeply missed.

Funeral services were held Friday Jan. 11, 2013, from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, with the Rev. Joseph Verespy officiating.

Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
