The Emanon Day for Autism Golf tournament will be held today, Sept. 8 at Emanon Country Club in Falls.
The tournament benefits S.A.F.E. (Supporting Autism and Families Everywhere).

The Hughestown Girl’s Softball League will be having their end of the year cook out today, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. at the field.

The Elm St. Sportsmen’s Club will meet tonight, Sept 8, at 7 at the club house, Suscon. All members are urged to attend. John Lizak will preside.
The Hughestown Sports Club will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8 at Granteeds, Parsonage St., Pittston. Game tickets and season tickets are available and can be purchased at the meeting or by contacting any club member.
The Avoca/Dupont Little League will hold it’s reorganization meeting at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 8 at the Avoca borough building.
The Jenkins Twp. Little League will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the field house. All officers, managers and interested parents are requested to attend.
The Pittston Area cheerleading booster club will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Tony’s Pizza. All parents are urged to attend.
WA FIELD HOCKEY
The Wyoming Area field hockey team is having a car wash and bake sale on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West Side Auto (Valero), corner of Wyoming and Montgomery, West Pittston. Tickets are $5. Come out and show your support.
The Holy Rosary school is looking for golfers for its Fifth Annual Holy Rosary Golf Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Pine Hills Country Club in Taylor. The tournament is captain and crew format with lunch and dinner included. Registration is at noon and the shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Cost is $90 per golfer or $360 for a foursome which includes a tee sponsor.

St. Monica Parish Golf Outing, Benefiting Projects of the Parish Men’s and Women’s Groups, will be held Sunday, Sept. 15 at Four Seasons Golf Club, Exeter.
Registration is at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $50 per person or $200 per foursome which includes, dinner catered by Villa Foglia following event plus beer, soda and water. Golf limited to the first 120 golfers. Registration due before Sept. 5.

The Dupont PACC Golf tournament will be held at Edgewood in the Pines on Sept. 1. It’s Captain and Crew format starting at 11 a.m. Dinner and refreshments will occur immediately after the tournament at the PACC. Cost is $80 per player. The deadline for entry is Sept. 15. The John “Beno” Borzell Drive for Excellence golf tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Fout Seasons Golf Club in Exeter. The format is captain and crew with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $65 per golfer and includes 18 holes with a cart, breakfast and a barbecue with prizes after the tournament. Proceeds benefit the John Anthony “Beno” Borzell Scholarship and the Wilkes University Environmental Chemistry Lab and Scholarship. Make check payable to John Anthony “Beno” Borzell Scholarship. Hole and Tee sponsors are available for $100.
The first Duryea Fire Softball tournament, benefiting firefighter Jordan Thomas, will be held on Sept. 20, 21, 22 at the Dupont Little League Field. Thomas was recently diagnosed with Non-Hopkins Lymphoma and has started his battle against the illness. Entry fee is $150 per team. More information: Joe Korea at 499-2350 or Jeff Hughes at 499-1113. Pittston Area Wrestling Booster Club will meet Monday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. Nomination of officers will take place. All parents are urged to attend. Plans for the upcoming season will be discussed
The Duryea Wildcats football team is still seeking players for this upcoming season. Players can sign up through the first four games of the season. If interested, come to the practice field on Foote Ave., Duryea, Monday through Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Lackawanna Lightning 14u Girls Travel Softball Team is looking for one utility player with catching experience. The team plays between 8 -12 tournaments a year starting now thru fall 2014.
