The Holy Rosary school is looking for golfers for its fifth annual Holy Rosary Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 15 at the Pine Hills Country Club in Taylor.

The tournament is captain and crew format with lunch and dinner included. Registration is at noon and the shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Cost is $90 per golfer, or $360 for a foursome which includes a tee sponsor. Contests prizes and great raffles will accompany the event.

Meeting tonight

Duryea Little League will hold a meeting today at 7 p.m. at the little league field. Nominations and election of Board members for the 2014 season will take place.

KIDS FUN RUN ON JULY 4

The West Pittston Parks and Recreation board will be holding a Kids Fun Run on July 4 at Wyoming Area Stadium. The event starts at 9 a.m. and the distance is from 1/8 mile to two miles. Registration forms for the run can be picked up at the West Pittston Municipal building. This year’s run is in memory of the late Steve Sokash, a lifelong resident of West Pittston.

WALESKI CAMP

Registrations are being accepted for the Stan Waleski Basketball Camp to be held for boys and girls in grades K through 8 July 8 through August 8 at the Greater Pittston YMCA.

The camp stresses skills, fundamentals, competitions, team play and fun with all players receiving a camp t shirt and certificate.

The camp features an early registration discount for players registering before to June 1 and discounts for multiple family members attending.

WYOMING SEMINARY

GIRLS B-BALL CLINIC

Girls in grades three through eight are encouraged to participate in the Wyoming Seminary Lady Blue Knights Girls Basketball Clinic, to be held June 24-28, at the Carpenter Athletic Center on the Upper School campus in Kingston.

The clinic will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24, through Thursday, June 27, and will end on Friday, June 28, with an afternoon awards ceremony.

Athletes will receive instruction on stations and individual positions and will participate in hotshot competitions, 1-on-1 competitions and daily games.

Clinic coaches include Renee Casterline, a 20-year veteran basketball coach who leads the Wyoming Seminary Lower School girls basketball program and serves as the basketball clinic director at Camp St. Andrew, and Ron Strothers, who has coached the Upper School girls basketball team for seven years and was recently named head women’s basketball coach at Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

Cost of the clinic is $150 and includes a free t-shirt.

WA GOLF OPEN

SET FOR JULY 27

The annual Wyoming Area Football Alumni Association golf open will be held Saturday, July 27, at Four Seasons Golf Club, Exeter.

The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m.

Only the first 92 paid entrants will be accepted. There will be no exceptions.

Cost of $75 per golfer includes 18 holds of golf with cart, captain and crew format, food and refreshments, entertainment and prizes.

All proceeds benefit the WA Football Alumni Association.

Make checks payable to the WA football Alumni nd mail no later than July 12 to WA Football Alumni Association, 125 Boston Ave., West Pittston, PA 18643. Include names of teammates.

WA PRIDE

FOOTBALL CAMP

The 2013 Warrior Pride Football Camp, a non-contact skill development camp for players ages 6 to 14, will be held July 26 at Anthony “Jake” Sobeski Stadium, West Pittston.

Registration is from 8 to 9 a.m. in the weight room parking lot and the camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Post-camp cookout will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. for campers, coaches and alumni.

Donation is $10. The first 125 paid campers will receive a T-shirt. Make checks payable to WA football Alumni Association and mail to Independent Graphics, Inc., PO Box 703, Pittston, PA 18640, attn. Bikes.

Instructors will be Wyoming Area coaching staff, alumni and the 2013 Warrior players.
