On Saturday Sept. 21, at 6 p.m. the AMVETS Post No. 189 will hold their Change of Command Dinner Dance starting with a POW/MIA’s Remembrance Ceremony before dinner. AMVETS Post No. 189 Honor Guard will participate in the Memorial Service honoring recently deceased post members to include John Ballero, Edward Strucke, Joseph Maffei, William Pupa, and all our departed members. The Installation of Officers will be performed by Arthur C. Stahl PNC.

Congratulations to the newly elected 2013-2014 Officers of AMVETS Post No. 189. Mr. Bernard McDonald is a third term Post Commander. Thomas Skrzsowski 1st Vice Commander, Jens Sorensen 2nd Vice Commander, Gerard Gurnari PDC. Is Adjutant, Tom Bufano is Finance Officer, Ron Faust is Post Service Officer, Judge Advocate is Tony Kotlowsli, John Gambino Provost Marshall, Richard White is Chaplain. The three Trustees are. John Phillips, Joseph Slyvester and Richard Sorokas. The Post Public Relations Officer is Bernie Babonis.
AMVETS No. 189 Ladies Auxiliary and Sons of AMVETS is formed. Their installation of officers will also be conducted. Congratulations to newly elected President Eileen M. Sorokas and all the Officers of 2013-2014. The eligibility requirement to join AMVETS Post No. 189 Auxiliary or Sons of AMVETS is you must have a Grand Parent, Parent, Spouse or Child current 90 days in the US Armed Forces or Honorable discharge since WWII or to date. Applications will be available at this gathering.

The V.F.W. Post #4909 will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7 at the post home. Commander Gary Carwardine will preside. A Home Association meeting will follow. Refreshments will be served.
