Charles Karcutskie, MD, MA, West Wyoming, recently graduated from the Commonwealth Medical College with a Doctorate of Medicine.

A 2004 graduate of Wyoming Area, he is a 2008 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, earning bachelor of science degrees in both Chemistry and Philosophy and minors in physics and conceptual foundations of medicine. He earned a Master of Arts from Loyola University Chicago in medical biology in 2009.

Dr. Karcutskie has accepted and begun his residency in general surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Health System in Miami, Fla. He will be training for seven years, which includes two years of surgical research.

Dr. Karcutskie is the son of Charles and Linda Karcutskie. He has one sister, Stephanie Willis, Pittsburgh.

Got trees?

Add color to your landscape year-round by joining the Arbor Day Foundation in August.

Everyone who joins the nonprofi t Arbor Day Foundation with a $10 donation will receive 10 free white flowering dogwood trees through the Foundation’s Trees for America campaign.

The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting in each member’s area, which falls between October 15 and December 10. The 6- to 12-inch trees are guaranteed to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Planting instructions are enclosed with each shipment of trees.

“Dogwood trees will add color and beauty to your yard throughout the year, with their showy spring flowers, scarlet autumn foliage and red berries that attract songbirds in the winter,” said John Rosenow, founder and chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation.

New members of the Arbor Day Foundation also receive The Tree Book, which includes information about tree planting and care, and a subscription to Arbor Day, the Foundation’s bimonthly publication.

Spamalot slated

Phoenix Theatrics is very proud to be the first NE PA’s premier production of Monty Python’s Spamalot August 9 to the 25. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.
