COSMOPOLITAN

The Cosmopolitan Seniors next meeting is at 1 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Center on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Host/Hostesses are: Aggie Abromavage, Rose Gunsior, Johanna Malinowski, Victor Malinowski, and Marge Zinkavich.

The previous meeting was attended by 59 members, and two guests. After the call to order, Vice President Joe Kleback led the group in prayer, pledge of allegiance and a patriotic song. Terri Mislan read the minutes of the previous meeting, and Amy Alpaugh gave the Treasurers report.

New Pastor, Father Finn, was introduced to the club. Birthday celebrants were announced and Mary Dirhan was highlighted for her 98th birthday.

Afterwards, the group enjoyed refreshments and Bingo was played. The 50/50 winners were: Sam Ferrara, Ron McAdarra, Johanna Malinowski, and Frances Poluske. Rosalie Ferrara won the special game prize, and guest Cheryl Piphers won the Bingo jackpot.

A Casino trip is planned for September, to Mt. Airy with pickups in Exeter and Pittston. You do not have to be a member to come on these trips. Details can be obtained from Johanna at 655-2720.

WYO./WEST WYO.

The Wyoming, West Wyoming Seniors will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 20 at the St. Monica’s meeting rooms with President Frank Pefinski presiding.

At the previous meeting, minutes were read by Secretary Joan Kwasny, and the Treasure report was given by Treasurer Donna Pocceschi. Servers are Armonde Casagramde and Vicky Mecklavage.

The 50/50 winners from the last meeting were: Helen Markert , Marion Pocceschi, Olga Mizin and Angie Mastruzzo. Bingo jackpot winner was Marion Poccschi.

Birthdays for August are Olga Mizin, Joe Kosloski, Genny Rooney and Angie Zagursky. There will be refreshments after a brief business meeting and Bingo will be played. New members and guest are always welcome to sit in at the meetings and you do not have to be a resident to join the club.

FALLS CENTER

The Falls Active Adult Center invites anyone 55+ to the following activities:

Mondays, 10-11:30 a.m. Wii Bowling competition with Tunkhannock Active Adult Center ( alternating sites); Mondays, 1-2 p.m. Crocheting Club ( all levels welcome).

Tuesdays and Fridays, 11-11:45 a.m. “Healthy Steps” exercise program. This program is designed to improve balance and strengthen muscles to help prevent falls.

Wednesdays, 10-10:45 a.m. Walking group; 1-2 p.m. 5 week program . Steps to a Healthier You.This program is designed for those over 50 to improve general health with an emphasis on skin care including facial exercises to help maintain a more youthful look.

Tuesdays, Brain games at lunch; Thursdays, Nutrition talks at lunch; Fridays, 9-12 noon Geocaching activity.

Wednesday, Aug. 21, National Senior Citizens Day special lunch; Friday, Aug. 23, Concert at 1 p.m. by St. David’s Male Choir.

Anyone wishing to join us for a hot meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 should RSVP to Twila at 388-2623 by 12:30pm the day before. The Center is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is located on SR 92
