Hughestown Borough Councilman Dave Stefanoski, Councilwoman Marie Griglock and Mayor Paul Hindmarsh met with Pittston Area superintendent Mike Garzella to discuss a remedy for sewer blockage on Rock Street near the primary center.

Kristy DeRome Gomberg organized a Care Walk to benefit Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, an organization with a mission to advance the treatment and cure for thalassemia, considered a fatal blood disease.

The Care Walk is scheduled for 10 a.m. today, May 5 at Robert Yaple Park in Hughestown. Gift baskets, refreshments and snacks will be available.

Electronics will be collected via dropoff at the borough building on Friday, June 14.

A curbside collection of grass and small branches is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8.

Stefanoski met with the recycling coordinator of the Environmental Protection Northeast Regional Office regarding purchasing recycling bins as recycling has increased in the borough.
