He ordered the chicken parmesan.

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, in town for a rehab stint at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, stopped by Palazzo 53 on Main Street in Pittston Tuesday evening.

Palazzo owner Chris Barcia said Jeter was nothing but a gentlman.

“He seemed very relaxed,” Barcia said. “He signed a few balls for us and posed for a few pictures. He coudn’t have been nicer.”

The 1996 American League Rookie of the Year spent over two hours at the downtown Pittston eatery and ordered some appetizers, a salad and one of the house specialties, chicken parmesan over pasta.

Recovering from a broken ankle he suffered during the first game of the American League Championship Series last October, Jeter went 1-for-9, drew four walks and scored two runs at the plate during his four rehab games with the RailRiders starting on Saturday night.

Mr. November was called back up to the big ball club on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. But during his stay in the Scranton area, Jeter was seen around town having a salad at State Street Grill in Clarks Summit and seafood at Cooper’s in Scranton.
