A benefit will be held for stage four cancer patient Robert Surplus on Friday, August 16, at Diane’s Deli & Internet Cafe,’ located at 206 South Main Street Pittston. The benefit is from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Surplus, 35, of Moosic, suffers from Carcinoma Malignant Neoplasm.

Girlfriend Tammy Brown of Pittston, described how the cancer effects Surplus on daily basis. “Robert is constantly in pain and the nausea he feels from the cancer causes him to throw up on a daily basis,” Brown said. “As the cancer spreads throughout Mike’s body he becomes more and more tired each day.”

Surplus currently has no medical insurance and is in desperate need of donations.

Food and drink specials will be available at the benefit along with performances by bands Deva Loka and 3 to Breath. More bands are to come and donations of whatever you can give can be made at the door.

Donations can also be made at the UCW Credit Union located at 46 South Main Street Pittston.

Brown said seeing Surplus every day allows her to keep pushing forward and doing everything she can despite the odds.

“I love Robert with all my heart and that love allows me to never give up,” Brown said. “I want to thank the Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the community for their continuous love and support.”

Baskets will also be raffled off along with gift cards from Gerrity’s, Vince’s Pizza, Applebee’s, Domino’s, and De Muro’s Pizza.
