Pittston Area’s Allie Barber continued her stellar play against Wyoming Seminary Thursday.

The Patriot midfielder manufactured four goals and an assist to push the Patriots to an 8-1 victory in girls soccer action. Maddy Mimnaugh scored a goal and three assists. Sara Ruby found net twice.

Bethany Carpenter scored Wyoming Seminary’s lone goal with four seconds remaining in the first half. Pittston Area’s other tally came from Katelyn Pugliese on a penalty kick.

It was fairly easy defensively for the Patriots, allowing just three shots against Wyoming Area.

Holy Redeemer’s Lydia Lawson and Pittston Area’s Liz Waleski scored one goal apiece as the two teams played to a tie Tuesday.

Emily Schramm added an assist for Holy Redeemer, while Sara Ruby dished out an assist for Pittston Area.

Ryan Schuleski scored twice to help the Warriors to the win on the road, while David Klaproth also found the back of the net.

Brandon Schamnoski scored the game-winning goal in the second half to propel Pittston Area to a victory over Holy Redeemer Tuesday.

Jordan Consagra scored in the first for Pittston, while Colin Tracy assisted the goal.

Adam Zipko recorded the lone goal for Holy Redeemer in the loss.

Gared Zaboski and Brian Wisowaty scored one goal apiece to lead Wyoming Area to a victory over Nanticoke Tuesday.

Ryan Shuleksi dished out an assist in the win.

Wiston Godoy scored the lone goal for Nanticoke in the loss.

In a tri-match at Wyoming Valley Country Club, Wyoming Area split the different between Holy Redeemer and Hanover Area.

Courtney Melvin, Gavin Gress and Maddy Warton led the Warriors with a trio of 45s. Ryan Wrobel shot a 47.

Holy Redeemer continued its hot play with four players in the high 30s, including Ryan Crossin’s one-under 35.

The Comets’ Joe Hurn grabbed the medal shooting 37 at the par-35 Fox Hill Country Club and helped his team to victory Tuesday.

Crestwood’s Billy Dombroski (39) and Jason Dotzel (40) had the next two lowest scores on the afternoon, while Pittston Area’s Tyler Mullen led his team with a 42.

Nanticoke 207

All four of Wyoming Area’s scorers beat out the top Trojan scorer led by Gavin Kross’ 40 to take the medal Tuesday.

Tony Shaver (42), Maddie Wharton (44) and Courtney Melvin (45) rounded out the Warriors’ scores at Fox Hill Country Club (par-35).

Nanticoke’s leader was Mike Malshefski, who carded 46.

WyO. Valley West 1

Wyoming Area’s Kierstin Grillo won the second singles by a 6-1, 6-2 score. Laura Perry and Julia Banas earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at first doubles.

Wyoming Valley West received a match win at first singles from Laura Monto (6-1, 6-1).

Crestwood 4

Pittston Area 1

Kristi Bowman, Brittan Stanton and Jennie Snyder all won their matches Thursday to give Crestwood a singles sweep, leading the Comets past Pittston Area 4-1 in a high school girls tennis match.

Bowman took the top singles match, 6-1, 6-0, while Crestwood’s Stephanie and Christine Maichin teamed up to post a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.

Pittston Area’s No. 2 doubles team of Kristen Capitano and Sara O’Hop produced the team’s lone victory, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

Wyoming Area 3

Hanover Area 2

Kiersten Grillo and Julia Gober won their singles matches to lead Wyoming Area to a 3-2 victory over Hanover Area.

The team of Julia Banas and Lauren Perrs won their doubles match in straight sets to secure the win for Wyoming Area.

Emily Rinehimer won the lone singles match for Hanover Area in straight sets.

Holy Redeemer 5

Pittston Area 0

Megan McGraw, Emily Kabalka and Natalie Coffee earned straight-set singles victories to propel Holy Redeemer to a win over Pittston Area.

Holy Redeemer also swept the doubles matches en route to the win.

CROSS COUNTRY

Robbins Invitational

Both Pittston Area and Wyoming Area competed in last weekend’s Cliff Robbins Invitational in Dallas.

On the girls side, Pittston Area came in seventh out of 16 qualifying teams. Leading the way for the Patriots was Tara Johnson. Johnson, a sophomore, ran a time of 20:11. That was good enough for third-place overall.

Eastin Ashby came in with a 23:12, while Abby Sheerer ran a 24:01. Wyoming Area had an incomplete team. But sophomore Mackenzie Bilbow led the Warriors with a 25:10.

On the boys side, Wyoming Area put up a 16th place finish out of 20 teams. Warrior runner Zachary Gibbons, a junior, came in just under 21 minutes, while Chris Wall was a second behind.

Pittston Area’s Mike Harvilla, a junior, turned in the top time for the Patriots at 18:21.

VOLLEYBALL

Holy Redeemer 3

Lauren Slovasky dished out 23 service points, while Nicole Slovasky recorded 15 kills in the Royals’ shutout win Friday.

The Warriors were led by Sam Acacio’s four kills.

Hanover Area 0

Sam Acacio had a match-high 10 kills to power the Warriors to a 25-10, 25-14, 25-11 sweep on the road Wednesday.

Audrey Hiedacavage had 18 assists.

Tunkhannock 3

Pittston Area 0

Tunkhannock handed the Patriots a loss by scores of 25-8, 25-11, 25-18. Amanda Hardy notched eight kills. The Tigers’ Erin Smith had an all-around effort with 21 assists, 12 service points and five aces.

Pittston Area’s Marley O’Brien tallied four kills and eight digs.

Nanticoke 3

Taylor Briggs (two service points, six aces, six kills, two digs) helped lead the Trojans to a 25-13, 25-10, 25-13 sweep of the Patriots.

Abbey Zaykoski (five service points, five aces, six kills) and Lauren Rinehimer (two aces, two kills, 15 assists, 1 block) also contributed for Nanticoke.
