People who have not been to downtown Pittston since last year’s Pittston Tomato Festival are in for a surprise. What difference can a year make? Look and see.
Sunday Dispatch contributing photographer Bill Tarutis captured these photos Thursday evening as dusk descended on a Main Street just drying out from an early evening rain, and still the town looked sparkling.
From the elegant outdoor seating at Palazzo 53 to the almost surreal mural of Pittston’s heritage on the side of the Pittston Dental building to the “Tilting Tomato” sculpture at the corner of William and Main to the new Tomato Bar & Bistro adjacent to the Tomato Festival grounds, the city is all set for the 50,000 people who traditionally attend the festival.
Things get underway Thursday at 5 p.m. and continue right through Sunday. All you need to know can be found in the original Tomato Festival Guide included with today’s Sunday Dispatch.
