The Boylan Foundation will host its annual golf tournament on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club in Mountaintop. Since 2001, the foundation has helped raised money for families and causes throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. This year’s event will continue that tradition by supporting Joey Frushon.
Frushon, of the Greater Pittston area, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer) on March 20. Throughout his battle, he has never abandoned his positive attitude — and is determined to return to his favorite activities. He is currently seeking treatment at the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville.
The tournament will kick off with an 11 a.m. registration, followed by a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start featuring a captain and crew format. Lunch will be served throughout the registration period, leading up to the 1:30 p.m. start. Dinner will be served immediately following.
The foundation will hold a raffle and auction portion during the dinner, featuring donated items from several teams, businesses and individuals. Some of this year’s items include an autographed jersey from Philadelphia Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz, a game used and autographed jersey from the Penguins, an autographed puck from the Mario Lemieux Foundation and golf and dinner packages from members at Wyoming Valley, Fox Hill and Huntsville Country & Golf Clubs.
Sponsorship and golf registration is ongoing, however space is limited and may be done by contacting Joe Boylan (email@example.com).
Members of the Boylan Foundation include Kevin and Janet Boylan, founders; Angelo and Shannon Medico, Joe and Jodi Boylan, Kevin Clancy Boylan and Abby Faett, K.C. Medico, Quinn Medico and Madeline Boylan.
