It’s a rebirth, of sorts.

Sorella, a popular salon in Plains Township since 2008, was ravaged during the flooding in the Fall of 2011 and the shop took in 6 1/2 feet of water.

Nothing was salvageable, including their work stations, desks and hundreds of files of customer information.

The five partners, Mary Rose Orkwis, Donna Orth, Lisa Fagotti, Susan Yurkanin and Stephanie Markert, didn’t let devestation win out. Sorella means sister in Italian.

They moved out of the flood zone and into the former Pittston Gazette Building on Broad Street, next to City Hall.

“We were very happy to have found this historic Gazette Building to call our home and a great plus is that it is was out of the flood zone,” Yurkanin said. ” We are happy to be part of the redevelopment of Pittston City. We are so proud of the transformation that we want to show it off to everyone.”

The salon is holding a grand re-opening and open house from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 28.
