Herbert Dockett, 91, of Avoca, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton.
He was born in Duryea on Sept. 2, 1921, a son of the late Walter and Jennie Mae (Huddleson) Dockett. He attended Avoca schools.
Herbert was a member of the Brick United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. After the war, he worked for many years with the Moffat Coal Co. until its closing, and he retired from the Avoca Borough Street Commission.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes M. (Faulend) Dockett, who died Jan. 23, 2012; his sister Viola Hudick; and brothers, Kenneth, Wilson, Albert, Ruben and Walter.
Herbert is survived by his daughters, Arlene Dockett and Joyce Stefanko, Avoca; his son, David, Avoca; his sisters Grace Brunisifski, Avoca; Jen Gurzinski, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Betty Rosenski, Avoca; many nieces and nephews.
At Herbert’s request, the funeral was private and held at the convenience of the family.
