The Pittston Active Adult Center, located at 441 North Main Street, Pittston announces the following upcoming activities and events:

Thursday, August 1, is Sister’s Day. Invite your sister to have lunch at the Center today. Dinner reservations must be ordered at least one day in advance by 1 p.m. A $2 donation is asked.

A 10-week weight wise/mission possible class will begin on Monday, August 5 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and continue each Monday for 10 weeks. Learn how to reduce blood pressure, blood sugar and improve nutrition. There is no charge for this class for Center members but you must pre-register with Connie by calling the center at 655-5561.

Zumba Gold classes are being held on Tuesday afternoons at 2 p.m. Cost is $2 for Center members and $3 for non-members. Anita LoPresto is the instructor.

Calling all pitch players. If you like to play pitch our Pitch Group is seeking players. The Pitch Group meets on Tuesday afternoons at 1 p.m.

Two seats are still available for the following trip: “A Day in the Country” in the Heart of Pocono Mountains on Friday, August 23. This trip includes motor coach transportation, a one hour fully narrated Historic sightseeing fully enclosed trolley tour, luncheon choice of beef, chicken or fish and the show “All Shook Up” at the Shawnee Playhouse. Cost is $75.

Reservations are now open for the following trips: Monday, Sept. 23 – Bloomsburg Fair; Thursday, Sept. 26 – The Feast Of San Gennaro at The Brownstone Grand; October 22 – Penn’s Peak, King Henry Show; Thursday, November 7 – Sands Casino; Thursday, December 5 – Pines Dinner Theater Christmas Show. The lunch menu for this week will be:

Monday, Sauteed Beef and Broccoli, Noodles, Whole Wheat Bread, Tropical Fruit and Oatmeal, Raisin Cookie, Margarine, Milk and Coffee;

Tuesday, BBQ Chicken (BBQ on side), Chuckwagon Corn, Mashed Potatoes, Biscuit, Ambrosia Salad, Margarine, Milk and Coffee;

Wednesday, Hot Dog and Beans, Potato Wedges, Whole Wheat Roll, Fresh Watermelon, Margarine, Milk and Coffee.


The Cosmopolitan Seniors next meeting is at 1 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Center on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Host/Hostesses are: Florence Aquilina, Irene Kovaleski, John Kovaleski, Bill Kull, Mary Ann Kull, and Irene Parini

The previous meeting was attended by 54 members. After the call to order, Vice President Joe Kleback led the group in prayer, pledge of allegiance and a patriotic song. Terri Mislan read the minutes of the previous meeting, and Amy Alpaugh gave the Treasurers report. Afterwards the group enjoyed refreshments and Bingo was played.

The 50/50 winners were: Amy Alpaugh, Marcella Fountain, Rosemary Golenski, George Mislan and Ed Stankoski. Amy Alpaugh and Johanna Malinowski shared the special game prize, and Frank Fountain won the Bingo jackpot.

A Casino trip is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 14 to Mt. Airy. Pickups in Exeter and Pittston. You do not have to be a member to come on these trips. Details can be obtained from Johanna at 655-2720.


The Wyoming/W. Wyoming Seniors will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 6 in the St. Monica’s meeting rooms with President Frank Perfinski presiding. Servers for this meeting are George C. Yurek and Theresa Kennedy.

The 50/50 winners from the last meeting were Mickey DeSalvo, Armonde Casagrande and Frank Perfinski. Bingo Jack-pot winner was Joe Kosloski. After a short meeting refreshments will be served and Bingo will be played. New members and guest are always welcome and you don’t have to be a resident.
