Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Greater Pittston area will take place on Nov. 8, and 15. There is a need for stuffing mix, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, soup, sweet potatoes, gravy and any other canned food that might be part of a holiday meal. Drop-off the food donations in the church’s vestibule.

Choir singers are invited for the rehearsals preparing for the Thanksgiving Service at HMSC at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17. These rehearsals will be together with the Sacred Heart Choir.

The Seventh Annual Community Thanksgiving Prayer Service will be held 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. During the service a collection will be taken for the needy in the Greater Pittston area. Following the prayer service, all are invited to the parish hall for refreshments and fellowship.

The Ladies ANS are selling potato-cheese pierogies. They can be picked up after Masses on Sunday in the church hall.

Toys for Tots will be collected on the feast of St. Nicholas on Sunday, Dec. 6. There will be a box in our church vestibule — bring only new and unwrapped toys.

Children’s Choir will meet after the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Nov. 8 in the rectory meeting room.

CCD class will be held at 6 p.m. on Mondays, Nov. 9 and 16. Grades 6 and 7 are to report to the church for the Nov. 9 class. If your child can not attend CCD class for any reason, call 570-362-1900 and report them off.

The rectory office will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. Pastoral Council will still meet at 7 p.m. in the rectory room.

Pierogi making will begin at 8 a.m. continue to 4 p.m. each day through Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Bible Study will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 in the rectory meeting room.

Food is being collected for the Greater Pittston Food Bank to help make holiday dinners. Offerings of dry food items and canned goods can be brought to mass the weekends each weekend until Nov. 15. CCD students can bring their offerings to class. Outside of mass times, leave offerings on the rear porch of the rectory.

Senior Outreach will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 in the rectory meeting room.

The Sacred Heart Welcoming Committee will sponsor its annual Christmas Greens Sale. Items available will be wreath, wooden cross, cemetery cross, log bundle, planter and centerpiece. The sale will start on Saturday, Nov. 21 and end on Sunday, Dec. 6. Greens can be picked up the weekend of Dec. 14 and 15 after Masses in the church hall. The seventh annual community Thanksgiving Prayer Service will be held at Our Holy Mother of Sorrows Church at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. The two parish choirs will join forces and voices in songs of praise. Practice will take place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Holy Mother of Sorrows. Father Verespy will be the homilist for the service. During the service, a collection will be taken for the Greater Pittston Food Pantry. A social will be held in the Holy Mother of Sorrows Church hall following the service.

The parish will have Solemn Vespers every Sunday before the 5:30 p.m. Mass. The psalms will be chanted, and prayer booklets will be provided.

The Care and Concern Free Health Clinic is open every Wednesday and is free of charge. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. in the former Seton Catholic High School and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Patients for The Pediatric Health Clinic are now being seen on the first Thursday and third Thursday of the month at Dr. Imbrogno’s office at 570-855-6035 until further notice. Children’s immunization records are required upon registration. Parents or guardians must be present to have their child examined. All services are free and confidential.
