WEST PITTSTON — Council members adopted the 2016 budget at a special meeting on Tuesday.

The budget stands at $8,285,896 which includes no increases on taxes or fees. The mill rate will remain 3.26. A mill is $1 of tax for every $1,000 in assessed property value.

Council members also approved the application of a liquor license transfer from Ashley Borough to West Pittston for Beer King Enterprises, Inc.

The business will operate out of 801 Wyoming Ave. in the Insalaco Shopping Complex and will carry small quantities of beer such as six-packs and 12-packs.

In other business, council members approved:

• A motion to apply for Local Share Account funds in an amount of $69,925 for the municipal building remodeling project.

• A motion to apply for LSA funds in an amount of $91,864 for the public works roof replacement project that for 505 Delaware Ave.

• A motion to apply for a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Multimodal Transportation Fund Grant in the amount of $303,147 for an infrastructure project that will see the repaving of the streets on Erie and Fourth streets.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 at the municipal building for a reorganization meeting with the regular monthly meeting to follow.
