    The Feast of St. Joseph Marello, the founder of the Oblates of St. Joseph, will be celebrated Monday, May 30 with a special Holy Mass at 7 p.m. with the Most Reverend James Timlin, retired Bishop of Scranton. An open air reception on the seminary grounds will follow immediately the Mass. A Triduum, three days of prayer, will be held with holy Mass at 7 p.m. each day from Friday, May 27 to Sunday, May 29. Blessing with the relic of St. Joseph Marello will be held before the Feast Day.

    The Blue Army will celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday, June 3. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. during which time Confessions will be heard. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., music ministry will be provided by the Sacred Heart Singers, under the direction of Ernie Pappa and Jennifer Michel. At 8 p.m., a Holy Mass in honor of The Sacred Heart of Jesus will be celebrated by Fr. Joseph Sibilano, director of the OSJ Seminary. The First Friday Reparation Vigil will include the usual devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Our Lady of Fatima.

    The annual parish picnic will take place from Thursday, Aug. 4 to Saturday, Aug. 6 on the parish grounds. Non-perishable food items and paper products to be used in the Food Basket stand are being collected. Containers have been placed in the church vestibule for items and collection of items will end Sunday, July 10.

    From noon to 5 p.m., First Friday Adoration: An afternoon of Silent Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration will begin at noon (end of mass) and end with Solemn Benediction at 5 p.m.

    The parish will have Solemn Vespers every Sunday before the 5:30 p.m. Mass. The psalms will be chanted, and prayer booklets will be provided.

    A farewell/thank you reception for Father Carlos will be held in the lobby of the parish center following the Corpus Christi procession on Sunday, May 29.

    This year’s St. Joseph Marello Parish Golf Tournament will be held Sunday, June 12 at the Wilkes-Barre Municipal Golf Course with a tee off time of 8 a.m. The fee is $80 per golfer which includes golf, cart, dinner after the tournament and a variety of prizes. The event will feature two hole in one prizes — one for $10,000 sponsored by the law firm of Saporito, Falcone and Watt and the other a new two-year car lease from Coccia Ford Lincoln.     The Knights of Columbus Council 16071 will hold a steak and eggs breakfast at the parish center Sunday, June 19. The menu will includes steak, cheese omelette, potatoes, and beverages. Tickets will be available from any Knight or at the rectory and cost $15 for adults and $8 for children under age 12.

    Vacation Bible School will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. from Monday, July 18 to Thursday, July 21 for children ages 3 to 13. this year’s theme is “Expedition Norway.” A family friendly dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. each day and family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for a closing celebration starting at 7:50 p.m.

    St. John’s is renting out the lower level for non-members for events. Cost is $25 per hour plus a $25 per hour security fee. Cost for members of St John’s is $12.50 per hour and a $12.50 security deposit, maximum four-hour limit.
