PITTSTON — The Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library donated a $1,000 Gold Sponsorship to the Book It Through Pittston 5K Run/Fun Walk which will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

The donation will be used to support an Adult Literacy Program for people throughout the community named in honor of, and in memory of, former state Rep. Thomas Tigue and his wife Dianne Tigue.

The Literacy Program will offer instructions to individuals interested in receiving a high school diploma through the state GED program. Professional instructors will offer classes for the College Prep Test, resume writing, resume reviews, mock interviews, career counseling and etiquette.

Registration for Book It Through Pittston may be made on line at scrantonrunning.com, at the Pittston Memorial Library, or by calling the library at 570-654-9565.
