Wyoming Area Elementary Schools will reopen Wednesday, Sept. 7.

Parents who have not yet registered children are encouraged to do so before the first day of school.

Registration for all students, kindergarten through 12th grade will take place at the Secondary Center, 20 Memorial St., Exeter.

8:35 a.m. – Student arrival

Sept. 7 and 8 are early dismissal days in which students are dismissed at 12:15 p.m.

Breakfast and lunch program

The breakfast will begin the first day of school. The lunch program will start on the third day of school.

All students who had free and reduced lunch last year will receive meals until Saturday, Oct. 1.

Parents who have not received a letter stating that they have been approved free/reduced meals via Direct Certification for this school year must submit a new application by Thursday, Sept. 29.

Breakfast will be served on all early dismissal days.

Classroom assignments

Due to confidentiality concerns, students’ and teachers’ names will not be published.

Students will report to designated areas in their assigned building for teacher assignment. Teachers will guide the students as they enter their assigned building. Teacher assignment for grades 1-6 will not be given over the phone prior to the first day of school.

Kindergarten info

Wyoming Area has a full-day kindergarten program.

All kindergarten students should wear the name tags received during the summer orientation building visits. If you were unable to attend, contact the school to secure name tags.

Bus riders will also wear bus tags given on the first day of school.

These tags should be worn for the first two weeks.

Student arrival times are 8:35 to 8:55 a.m. at 50 Penn Ave., Exeter.

Students will enter the school through the main entrance and will be directed to their classrooms. Teachers and aides will be available to direct students to assigned areas.

Students will enter the building through the front door.

Buses drop off and pick up on Penn Avenue.

Bus students are dismissed through the east end doors of the school and are escorted to their buses.

Parents may drop car riders on Memorial Street and walk them to the door.

After school, parents are to park on Memorial Street. Parents will proceed to the main entrance to meet their car riders.

Parents are reminded that they should not double park on Penn Avenue or Memorial Street.

In addition, follow all traffic/parking laws; do not park facing the wrong direction of traffic on any of the surrounding streets and be mindful of neighbors’ driveways.

Notify the school in advance for changes in student dismissal. A note or phone call is best.

Contact the school at least 25 minutes prior to the end of school day to change a child’s transportation needs.

Primary Center info

Student arrival times are 8:35 to 8:55 a.m. at 55 Tenth St., Wyoming.

Grades 1 and 3 will report to the cafeteria for room assignment. Grade 2 will report to the gym for room assignment.

Teachers and aides will be available to direct students to assigned areas. Parents are asked to say goodbye to their children at the entrance.

Parents transporting their children to school are to use the Tenth Street main entrance to enter the building.

Be aware that Tenth Street is a one way from Dennison Street to Butler Avenue.

All traffic coming east on Tenth Street, towards the school from Monument Avenue, will be required to make a right hand turn on to Butler Avenue; cones and signs will be in place to help funnel traffic.

The yellow curbed area directly in front of the school is reserved for students who will be exiting the car quickly, there are aides monitoring the front door to ensure that students enter the building and move to their assigned area.

If additional time is required for drop off or if parents need to enter the building, they can park on Butler Street or Tenth Street across from the school.

A cross walk is available for students to cross the street to the school.

At dismissal, grades 1-3 walkers will use the Dennison Street cafeteria doors.

Parents are reminded that they should not double park on Dennison or Clark streets.

All bus riders will arrive and depart through the back doors of the school– doors 1 and 3. Parents are not permitted to enter the rear of the school during arrival or dismissal times.

Intermediate Center info

Student arrival times are 8:35 to 8:55 a.m. at the Intermediate Center, located at 100 Montgomery Ave., West Pittston.

Montgomery Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Wyoming Avenue to Warren Street. The front of the building will be used for pickup and drop off of bus students.

Walkers and riders may enter the building one of three entrances.

A. Linden Street Entrance — There will be ample parking on Linden Street (Cemetery Side) and on the opposite side of Montgomery Avenue across Wyoming Avenue. There will be a crossing guard on Wyoming Avenue to help get students to building safely.

B. Main Entrance — For local students who walk to school they may use the main entrance on Montgomery Avenue to gain access to the school.

C. Warren Street — Students who will be dropped off by car can enter through the Warren Street entrance of the building. Parents should pull up to the driveway and let students out of the car to walk into the building.

For the first day only: Sixth grade students will report to the cafeteria, fifth grade students will report to the playground, fourth grade students will report to the gymnasium for homeroom assignments.

Beginning the second day of school student arrival times are 8:35-8:55 a.m.

Any student transported by bus or car and all walkers must go directly to their homeroom between that time.

All walkers may enter through the Montgomery Avenue or Warren Street entrance.

After the first day of school, all bus students will enter through the Montgomery Avenue entrance.

Parents should not drop off or pick up students on Montgomery Avenue. Buses and school vans will pick up on Montgomery Avenue.

Montgomery Avenue will be closed to all traffic from Wyoming Avenue to Warren Street. The front of the building will be used for pickup of bus students at the end of the day.

Bus riders will be dismissed through the main entrance at Montgomery Avenue.

Students in fourth grade will be dismissed from the Linden Street entrance to our building. Parents may pick up their children at the Linden Street entrance.

Students in fifth grade will be dismissed from the Warren Street entrance of the building. Parents may pick up their children at the Linden Street entrance.

Students in sixth grade will be dismissed from the main entrance of the building. Parents may pick up their children at the Linden Street entrance.
