Meet the Warriors: Wyoming Area senior interviews

Ryan Marvin

Ryan Marvin and his parents, Melody and Roger Orlandini, who he calls his role models, reside in West Wyoming. He is a member of Key Club, on the cross country team, and participates in spring/winter track. When he isn’t busy with school activities he likes to play football and baseball with his friends. He enjoys hunting and fishing as well.

When asked to look back on his years at Wyoming Area, Ryan says one of his most memorable moments was going to prom with all of his friends. Some of his favorite subjects in school are AP Physics and AP Calculus. The teacher who had the most influence on him throughout his high school career is Mrs. Wall. After graduation he plans to attend Marywood University for a bachelor’s degree in architecture. His future plans include moving to Pittsburgh where he will work for an architecture firm and have season passes to the Pittsburgh Steelers games. Ryan describes himself are smart, fun, and sincere. Ryan is looking forward to starting this new chapter in his life.

Casey Bartoli

Casey Bartoli, daughter of Robert and Lesley Bartoli, currently resides in Exeter. Casey is an avid member of the Wyoming Area Swim Team, Gardening Club, Key Club, and the Journalism Club, in addition to being the president of the age group at her church. Her hobbies include reading any type of literature and writing poetry.

Casey’s favorite subjects include English and science, although she recalls that she hasn’t always been good at them. Her favorite teacher is Ms. Argento, who taught her how to improve her writing skills and how to work under pressure. Spending the last six years at Wyoming Area with her best friend Katy Dymond has proven to make her high school career all the more memorable.

After high school, Casey plans to take a gap year, spending a year and a half on a mission trip with her church once she turns 19. When she gets back, Casey has made plans to go to Brigham Young University-Idaho for her early elementary education degree. She is looking forward to meeting new people and becoming a teacher. Casey’s role model is Harry Styles for being kind, funny, and inspirational and also because she loves him. When asked to describe herself in three words she said, “Obnoxiously loud and funny with a dash of glitter glue.”

Eric Whyte

Eric Whyte resides with his parents, Karen and Bill, in West Pittston. He is an active member of Student Council, History Club, and the National Honor Society. He has a part-time job working 14 hours a week at West Side Auto. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, outdoor activities, and Boy Scouts.

Eric’s favorite subjects in school are math and physics. Mrs. Mennig is his favorite teacher because she taught him that if you have fun learning, it’s that much more enjoyable. Eric’s role model is Matthew McConaughey. He recalls the lunchroom shenanigans during his junior year as his most memorable moments at Wyoming Area.

After graduating, Eric plans to attend Penn State University and major in natural gas engineering. He looks forward to meeting new people and starting a new chapter in his life. He plans on working in the area with gas companies and living comfortably. In the wise words of his role model, Eric describes himself as “alright, alright, alright.”

Kayla Wedlock

Kayla Wedlock, daughter of Keith and Christina Wedlock, resides in West Pittston. She is involved in yearbook, Student Council, Executive Board, S.A.D.D., History Club, Key Club, and the Journalism Club. Kayla has also been on the cheer team for three years and is now one of the five co-captains of the team. While being involved in all of these activities, she still manages to have a job at Gerrity’s and enjoys her favorite hobby, running at the track on cool nights.

Her favorite memory from her four years at Wyoming Area is when she cheered at her first football game under the Friday night lights. After high school, Kayla plans on attending the dual enrollment program at Luzerne County Community College and she wants to major in nursing. She is extremely excited to start the next chapter in her life and move onto college. Kayla’s career plans are to become a midwife and hopefully save lives along the way. Kayla would best describe herself as loving, bubbly, and kind-hearted.
