HUGHESTOWN — The annual ALS Fundraiser, in memory of Jimmy Duffy, will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Hughestown Hose Company. Duffy was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 and passed away in 2009.

All monies raised go to ALS research, Philadelphia chapter.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also referred to as motor neuron disease (MND), Charcot Disease and in the United States, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a neurodegenerative disease with various causes. It is characterized by muscle spasticity, rapidly progressive weakness due to muscle atrophy, difficulty in speaking, swallowing and breathing.

Food will be provided by Peculiar Culinary Company and there will be a Chinese Auction.
