National Night Out set for Aug. 8 at Healy Playground in Duryea

DURYEA — The Duryea Neighborhood Crime Watch, in conjunction with the police departments and crime watch units of Duryea, Dupont and Avoca, will hold its annual National Night Out from 3 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Healy Playground.

A parade will begin at the Dupont Playground on Chesnut Street, at 2 p.m and proceed to Healy Playground.

The following groups will participate: Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office Bureau of Consumer Protection, Pittston City Fire Dept., Rothrock’s Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy, Lackawanna College Police Academy.

There will be a live Taser demonstration as well as face painting, a children’s bounce house and obstacle course. The Geisinger Life Flight helicopter will be on hand. There will be free food and refreshments.
