District 7410, Northeastern Pennsylvania, of Rotary International provides students an opportunity to earn up to $400 for their school and a $50 or $100 gift certificate for themselves by writing a 500 to 750 word short story based on an ethical decision that a character or characters need to make.

The short story will be forwarded to the local Rotary Club, along with the publication release and eligibility certificate form no later than Oct. 31. The club will forward the top choice to the District level committee for further selection of finalists.

Tentative date for announcing the first, second and third place winners is Dec. 15. The three winners, their parents and teacher will be invited to the Saturday, April 30 luncheon at the district conference at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center, Wilkes-Barre, to receive a their prize and individual certificate of recognition.
