WILKES-BARRE — Federal Judge Joseph F. Saporito, Jr. has been chosen as guest speaker for the Italian American Association’s Annual Columbus Day banquet set for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 11 at Genetti Hotel and Convention Center in Wilkes-Barre.
Saporito, who has been admitted to practice law before all courts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, is a member of The American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Wilkes-Barre Law and Library Association (Luzerne County Bar Association), immediate past president 2012-2013.
He is an honoree of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alumni Chapter of Penn State University’s Dickinson School of Law and a recipient of the Scranton Preparatory School’s T. Donald Rinfret, S.J. Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Saporito was appointed United States Magistrate Judge on Feb. 12.
The son of the late Attorney and Mrs. Joseph F. Saporito Sr., he is a former principal in the law firm of Saporito, Saporito and Falcone.
He is married to the former Giovanna Falcone, B.S.N., R.N. and resides in Jenkins Township. The couple have two children, Sarah and Joseph.
This year’s event will honor Dr. Anthony D. Bruno II, M.D. as Person of the Year and Peter J. (P.J.) Adonizio, as the association’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
