Cooler temperatures will lift this morning leaving a sunny, pleasant day for your Thursday.

At 6:54 a.m., the National Weather Service indicated it was 40 degrees at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.

Today will be sunny with a high near 61 and no chance of rain throughout the day. There is a chance of showers, mainly after midnight, which may total a tenth of an inch. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

You’ll see a chance of showers, mainly before 11 a.m., on Friday. The high will be near 58 degrees with partly sunny skies. Friday night football may take a hit once again. With a low near 39 degrees, fans of local high school teams should bundle up for the first time this season. There is a 30 percent chance of rain with a slight wind.

The weekend starts with a slight chance of showers on Saturday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 51. There will be a northwest wind from 6 to 14 miles per hour. Make sure you take care of those outdoor plants before the weekend as the low on Saturday night will be around 31.
