PITTSTON ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Driver safety course will be Oct. 19

PITTSTON — An AARP Driver Safety Refresher Course will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19 at the Pittston Active Adult Center. This is a 4-hour class and can only be taken by those who have already taken the 8-hour class. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. To register, call the center at 570-655-5561. These classes need only to be renewed every three years and entitle participants to a car insurance discounts.

Monday, Nov. 2 – Sands Casino. Cost is $25 which includes motorcoach transportation, $20 free play and $5 food voucher.

Exercise classes are offered at the center at 9 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Healthy Steps classes with Ruth and Catherine are held at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays. Sit and Be Fit chair exercise classes with Sandi are held at 9 a.m. on Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes. Zumba Gold classes with Tony are held from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. on Tuesdays. Cost per class is $2.

The center now offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor. Classes are from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursdays. Cost per class is $2 per person and class size is limited.

Pitch games will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free coffee is available from 8:30 a.m. to closing.

Lunch is served at noon Monday to Friday. Asking donation is $2 for those 60 years of age or older and $4.62 for those under 60 years of age. Reservations must be made by noon at least one day in advance. To make reservations, call the center at 570-655-5561.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Pumpkin painting on Oct. 19

EXETER TWP. — Pumpkin Painting will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Oct. 19 at the Falls Active Adult Center. Pumpkins and supplies will be provided.

A representative from state Rep. Karen Boback’s office will be here from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 to answer any state related questions anyone from the community has.

Kristi Green, RN from Traditional Home Health Care & Hospice, will be here to check blood pressures from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 and will join members for bingo after.

The following activities are available throughout the week to anyone ages 50 and older at the Falls Active Adult Center:

Mondays: 10:30 a.m. to noon, Craft Club meets. Many projects are offered with all supplies provided.

Tuesdays: Brain games at lunch. Bingo following lunch.

Wednesdays: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Walking group meets, weather permitting. Nutrition tips at lunch.

Thursdays: Nutrition talks at lunch. Bingo will be held following lunch.

Fridays: 9:30 a.m. to noon Geocaching activity, weather permitting. Free Zumba Gold from 9:15 to 10 a.m.

The Falls Active Adult Center recently started the Garden Project. Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to participate. The group meets on Wednesdays.

Anyone wishing to join the Falls Active Adult Center for a hot meal each day at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over and $4.62 for those under 60 should call Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

COSMOPOLITAN SENIORS

Meeting set for Oct. 20

EXETER — The Cosmopolitan Seniors Club will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 in St. Anthony’s Center. Host/hostesses are Ed Czachor, Joe Kleback, Tony Matreselva, and George Mislan. Members are asked to either come in costume or wear black or orange, or something related to Halloween, such as hat or jewelry.

A trip is being planned to Sands Casino for Thursday, Nov. 19. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston. Non-members are welcome. Call Johanna at 570-655-2720 for reservations and information.

JENKINS TOWNSHIP SENIORS

Meeting will be Oct. 20

JENKINS — The Jenkins Township Senior Citizens will hold their regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Jenkins Township Hose Company. President Jean Mudlock will preside at the business meeting. Host and hostess for this meeting will be Clarance Maisano and Barbara Clark. Following the refreshment period, bingo will be played. New members are always welcome.

ST. JOSEPH’S SENIOR SOCIAL CLUB
