Tickets on sale for Christmas party

PITTSTON — Tickets are now on sale for the annual Christmas Party at Jenkins Township Social Hall on Sunday, Dec. 13. Cost is $25. Doors open at noon, family style dinner will served at 1 p.m. and music will be provided by George Tarasik Orchestra.

The center is now accepting donations of toys for Toys For Tots. To donate a toy, drop it off during the center’s hours of operation. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

A trip is planned to Sight & Sound Theater in Lancaster to see the new production of “Samson” on Wednesday, April 27. For further details, or make reservations, contact Connie Kokinda at 570-655-5561.

The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor. Classes are from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursdays. Cost per class is $2 per person and class size is limited.

Exercise classes are offered at the center at 9 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Healthy Steps classes with Ruth and Catherine are held at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays. Sit and Be Fit chair exercise classes with Sandi are held at 9 a.m. on Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes. Zumba Gold classes with Tony are held from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. on Tuesdays. Cost per class is $2.

Apprise counselors are now taking appointments for Medicare Part D Open Enrollment Period. Anyone wishing to have their current prescription plan reviewed may Connie or Hazel at the center at 570-655-5561 to set up an appointment.

Bridge players interested in forming a bridge club may contact Connie at 570-655-5561. The club would meet Wednesday and/or Friday afternoons.

Pitch games will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free coffee is available from 8:30 a.m. to closing.

Lunch is served at noon Monday to Friday. Asking donation is $2 for those 60 years of age or older and $4.62 for those under 60 years of age. Reservations must be made by noon at least one day in advance. To make reservations, call the center at 570-655-5561.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Make evergreen swags Nov. 30

EXETER TWP. — Master Gardener Edna Gatske will be at the Falls Active Adult Center from 11 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30 to instruct in making evergreen swags. All supplies provided.

George Rittenhouse, singer and entertainer, will be here for a Christmas concert from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 4.

The Book Club will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 to discuss “Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World” by Vickie Myron.

Craft Club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Dec. 7 to make pine cone swags.

Tenor concert vocalist, Rev. Gideon Giatano will be on hand from 11 to 11:45 a.m on Wednesday, Dec. 9 to perform. Following the concert, our special holiday luncheon will be served.

Homemade chocolate making will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Dec. 12.

Lunch & Learn will be at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17. State Rep. Aaron Kaufer will give legislative updates and will answer any questions you may have.

December birthdays will be celebrated with a lunch on Friday, Dec. 18. Following lunch, at 1 p.m., Santa will visit.

New Year’s Eve special lunch and party will be held Thursday, Dec. 31.

The Falls Active Adult Center recently started the Garden Project. Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to participate. The group meets on Wednesdays.

Anyone wishing to join the Falls Active Adult Center for a hot meal each day at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over and $4.62 for those under 60 should call Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

COSMOPOLITAN SENIORS

Christmas Party set for Dec. 1

EXETER — The Cosmopolitan Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 in St. Anthony’s Center for a Christmas party. Members are reminded to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the food pantry. Cash donations for the food pantry are welcome.

Fifty members and one guest attended the previous meeting. President Vic Malinowski, Vice President John Kovaleski, Secretary Terri Mislan and Treasurer Amy Alpaugh were re-elected to their positions. Kovaleski led the opening prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a brief meeting and refreshments. Bingo was played. The jackpot prize was awarded to Toni Hall, and the special game was shared by Ann Loftus, Teri Mislan and Cheryl Pipher. The 50/50 winners were Tom Alpaugh, Marcella Fountain, Edith Jones, and Johanna Malinowski.
