Skies are expected to clear, which should make for a sunny — yet cooler — weekend in the Wyoming Valley.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 40 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with overcast skies kicking off the day.

A 50 percent chance of rain is expected today, with the best chance of rain before 9 a.m. Cloudy skies are expected otherwise, and today’s high will be near 43.

Mostly cloudy skies will stick around into tonight, with a low around 33.

Mostly sunny skies will return to wrap up the week on Friday, with a high near 44. Partly cloudy skies are expected on Friday night, with a low around 32.

Sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, with a high near 47. Clear skies are expected into Saturday night, with a low around 31.

Sunny skies will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, with a high near 51. Partly cloudy skies are expected on Sunday night, with a low around 33.
