Christmas Sing-A-Long will be Dec. 21

PITTSTON — There will be a Christmas Sing-a-long at 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Red and Green Day is Wednesday. Wear in those colors and get a special treat.

The 2016 Bowling League is now forming. Bowling will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7 and continue for 14 weeks. For further information, contact Connie Kokinda at the Center.

The center is now accepting donations of toys for Toys for Tots. To donate a toy, drop it off during the center’s hours of operation. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

A trip is planned to Sight & Sound Theater in Lancaster to see the new production of “Samson” on Wednesday, April 27. For further details or to make reservations, contact Connie Kokinda at 570-655-5561.

The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor. Classes are from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursdays. Cost per class is $2 per person and class size is limited.

Exercise classes are offered at the center at 9 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Healthy Steps classes with Ruth and Catherine are held at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays. Sit and Be Fit chair exercise classes with Sandi are held at 9 a.m. on Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes. Zumba Gold classes with Tony are held from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. on Tuesdays. Cost per class is $2.

Bridge players interested in forming a bridge club may contact Connie at 570-655-5561. The club would meet Wednesday and/or Friday afternoons.

Pitch games will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free coffee is available from 8:30 a.m. to closing.

Lunch is served at noon Monday to Friday. Asking donation is $2 for those 60 years of age or older and $4.62 for those under 60 years of age. Reservations must be made by noon at least one day in advance. To make reservations, call the center at 570-655-5561.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Center to be closed for Christmas Holiday

EXETER TWP. — The center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday.

Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28 will be with Jessica Budzak from Wyoming Alcohol & Drug to discuss gambling awareness.

New Year’s Eve special lunch and party will be held Thursday, Dec. 31.

The book club will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4 to discuss “Breaker Boys” by Markus Zusak.

The center will offer an educational series in January entitled ”A Matter of Balance.” This program is being hosted by Margaret Austin, RN, a master trainer for a “Matter of Balance” through Geisinger. Austin is also the trauma outreach prevention coordinator. This class is being offered from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays through the month of January. The program is designed to help people remain in their own home safely.

The following activities are available throughout the week to anyone ages 50 and older at the Falls Active Adult Center:

Mondays: 10:30 a.m. to noon, Craft Club meets. Many projects are offered with all supplies provided.

Tuesdays: Brain games at lunch. Bingo following lunch.

Wednesdays: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Walking group meets, weather permitting. Nutrition tips at lunch.

Thursdays: Nutrition talks at lunch. Bingo will be held following lunch.

Fridays: 9:30 a.m. to noon Geocaching activity, weather permitting. Free Zumba Gold from 9:15 to 10 a.m.

The Falls Active Adult Center recently started the Garden Project. Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to participate. The group meets on Wednesdays.

Anyone wishing to join the Falls Active Adult Center for a hot meal each day at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over and $4.62 for those under 60 should call Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

COSMOPOLITAN SENIORS

EXETER — The club will meet again at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5 in St. Anthony’s Center. Hostesses are Bernadine Bednar, Irene Kovaleski, John Kovaleski and Lucy Pocgescki. Dues for 2016 will be collected. Membership is open to adults 50 years of age and older, regardless of residency or religious affiliation. Meetings are normally held at 1 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month and includes refreshments, bingo and trips. Interested parties are invited to attend a meeting.
