With Christmas only days away, temperatures are expected to rise and rain is predicted.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 37 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected today, with a high near 48.

Cloudy skies are expected to linger into tonight, along with a chance of showers into the early morning hours on Tuesday. The low will be around 42.

Rain is expected on Tuesday, with an 80 percent chance currently predicted. Up to a half an inch of rain is possible, and the high will climb to 51.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Tuesday night, with a low around 42.

Rain will once again be likely on Wednesday after 8 a.m., but no precipitation amounts have yet been predicted. The high will be near 56.

Rain will continue to be likely into Wednesday night, with low near 54.
