Sunshine is expected to stick around today, but rain is expected in the Wyoming Valley as the weekend approaches.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 43 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Sunny skies are expected today, with a high near 75. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, with a low around 53.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Thursday, along with a 40 percent chance of showers after 9 a.m. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and the high will be near 69.

Showers will be likely on Thursday night, with up to another quarter of an inch of rain possible. The low will be around 48.

Partly sunny skies will wrap up the week on Friday, but there will also be a slight chance of showers before 1 p.m. The high will be near 57.

Partly cloudy skies will follow into Friday night, with a low around 35.
