Warmer temperatures, rain expected as the weekend approaches

Temperatures are expected to climb close to 70 degrees in the next few days, but rain is also expected as the Wyoming Valley approaches the weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 47 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected today, with a high near 61. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, with a low around 44.

Mostly sunny skies are predicted for Thursday, with a high near 68.

Showers will become likely after 2 a.m. on Thursday night, with up to a half an inch of rain possible. The low will be around 50.

Showers are expected to round out the week on Friday, but no rainfall amounts have been predicted. The high will be near 56.

Partly cloudy skies are predicted for Friday night, with a low around 32.
