Rain is expected in the Wyoming Valley as the weekend approaches, but temperatures will remain mild.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 28 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.

Sunny skies are expected today, with a high near 58. Partly cloudy skies will carry over into tonight, with a low around 42.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Thursday, along with a slight chance of showers after 3 p.m. The high will be near 67.

Cloudy skies will carry over into Thursday night, along with a chance of showers during the evening hours — showers will become likely into the overnight hours, and thunderstorms will also be possible. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and the low will be around 58.

Mostly cloudy skies will round out the week on Friday, along with showers likely before 2 p.m. No rainfall amounts have been predicted, and the high will be near 66.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Friday night, along with a 30 percent chance of showers before 8 p.m. The low will be around 41.
