Rain is expected today in the Wyoming Valley, along with the potential for some severe weather.
According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms today could contain gusty winds and small hail. Isolated severe thunderstorms with localized damaging winds are also possible.
No watches or warnings have been issued for Luzerne or Lackawanna counties.
The forecast into the weekend will include a mixture of sunshine and a chance for more rain and thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service indicated that it was 54 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with fair skies reported.
Showers are likely before 2 p.m. today, along with possible thunderstorms. A 90 percent chance of rain is predicted, and up to a half an inch of rain is possible. Today’s high will be near 63.
Mostly cloudy skies will gradually clear tonight. The low will be around 44.
Mostly sunny skies are expected on Thursday, with a high near 69. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Thursday night, with a low around 47.
Sunny skies will wrap up the week on Friday, with a high near 72. Partly cloudy skies will carry over into Friday night, with a low around 50.
Partly sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, along with a 50 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. The high will be near 78.
Mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Saturday night, along with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low will be around 58.
Partly sunny skies will round out the weekend on Sunday, with a high near 73. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Sunday night, with a low around 54.
