Some rain could fall today, but the chances are not as high as forecasts earlier this week indicated.

The Wyoming Valley can also expect a sunny weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 61 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and mostly clear skies were reported.

There will be a slight chance of showers between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. A 40 percent chance of rain is predicted, and less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected. The high will be near 76.

Partly cloudy skies are predicted tonight, along with a 30 percent chance of showers before 7 p.m. The low will be around 52.

Sunny skies will round out the week on Friday, with a high near 84. Clear skies will follow into Friday night, with a low around 56.

Sunny skies are predicted for Saturday, with a high near 85. Clear skies will carry over into Saturday night, with a low around 60.

Sunny skies will round out the weekend on Sunday, with a high near 89. Partly cloudy skies are predicted for Sunday night, with a low around 62.
