WILKES-BARRE — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Luzerne County.
The watch is in effect until 8 p.m.
According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms will move into the area this afternoon and last into the evening. A few thunderstorms could become severe, and the main threat will be damaging winds and heavy rainfall.
A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to develop.
