PITTSTON — Reservations are now being taken for the following trips organized by the Pittston Active Adult Center:

Geri-Fit is held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday. This exercise program improves muscular strength, balance, coordination, motor skills, flexibility, arthritis and much more. Most of the exercises are performed seated in chairs. There is no charge for these classes. To register or for further information contact Connie Kokinda at 570-655-5561.

Line dancing classes with Sue are held at 10 a.m. Mondays. Exercise classes with Catherine and Ruth are held at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sandi offers chair exercise classes at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. on Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes.

Ceramic Class with Ann is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays while Bingo with Ron and Amy is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday mornings and also from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoons.

Shuffleboard matches are held at 10 a.m. Wednesday mornings where the men challenge the women.

Craft class with Faye and Rosanne is held at 10 a.m. on Thursday mornings, as is Wii bowling with John.

The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor at 2 p.m. on Thursdays. A small fee is charged.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Quilting classes available

EXETER TWP. — Quilting classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the following Thursdays at the Falls Active Adult Center: Aug. 11, 18 and 25.

A Hawaiian Day special lunch will be held Thursday, Aug. 11.

Osteoporosis class will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 16 presented by Patti Gozikowski, Director of Active Adult Center of Luzerne/Wyoming Counties. This class gives an overview of the condition as well as exercises (mostly chair) that will help strengthen the bones to help prevent or slow the progression of the osteoporosis. Anyone attending the class will get a free lunch following the class. Call the center to reserve a spot.

A staff person from state Rep. Karen Boback’s office will be available from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 17 to assist any constituent with state-related concerns.

Lunch & Learn will be at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 with Mary Parrs, RD from CEO who will discuss “Physical Activity and Healthy Eating.”

The following activities are available throughout the week to anyone ages 50 and older at the Falls Active Adult Center:

Mondays: 10:30 a.m. to noon, Craft Club meets. Many projects are offered with all supplies provided.

Tuesdays: Brain games at lunch. Bingo following lunch.

Wednesdays: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. walking group meets, weather permitting. Nutrition tips at lunch.

Thursdays: Nutrition talks at lunch. Bingo will be held following lunch.

Fridays: 9:30 a.m. to noon Geocaching activity, weather permitting. Free Zumba Gold from 9:15 to 10 a.m.

COSMOPOLITAN SENIORS

Meeting is Aug. 9

EXETER — The Cosmopolitan Seniors, a Project HEAD club, will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 in St. Anthony’s Center.

Host/hostesses are Frank Balcavage, Rose Gunsior, Frank Onda, and Irene Parini.

Membership is open to adults 50 years of age and older, regardless of residency or religious affiliation. Meetings are normally held on the first and third Tuesday of each month, beginning at 1 p.m. and includes refreshments, bingo and trips.

Interested parties are invited to attend a meeting.

A casino trip to Sands Casino is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 11. Pick ups are in Exeter and Pittston.

It is not required to be a club member to join a trip.
