Carlin sisters graduate

SCRANTON — Casey Carlin, a 2012 honor graduate of Scranton High School, recently graduated cum laude from George Washington University’s Elliot School of International Affairs in Washington, D.C. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in international affairs with a concentration in security policy and comparative political, economic and social systems. While there, she had the opportunity to spend a semester studying in Freiburg, Germany.

Erin Carlin is a member of the 2016 graduating class Scranton High School and was selected to be a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. She served as president of the Scranton High School orchestra during her senior year and participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s district and regional orchestra festivals. She will attend Colgate University in the fall.

Both girls are the daughters of Ed and Wendy Carlin of Scranton. Grandparents are Edward and Rose Carlin of Avoca and George Wagner of Scranton.

Duffy designated ‘Premier Advisor’

DALLAS — Wells Fargo Advisors has designated Jay Duffy, senior financial advisor, as a member of the firm’s Premier Advisor Program.

Duffy has been a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors for 15 years and has 18 years of experience in the brokerage industry. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from The University of Scranton. Duffy lives in West Pittston with his wife Katie and their two children.

Cumbo conducts research

WILKES-BARRE — Nicole Cumbo, West Wyoming, is one of 30 Wilkes University students participating in summer research projects.

Students are analyzing and characterizing fibrosarcomas to better understand the role of thrombospondin 1 in the formation of cancer. This research is a continuation of previous research that used a model of inflammation-induced carcinogenesis to develop colorectal cancers in mice.

Cumbo is a biology major.
