YATESVILLE – Ali Dunn, a three-year starting forward for the Pittston Area field hockey team, has committed to continue to her academic and athletic careers at Wilkes University.

“I really liked the coaches and it’s really good for nursing, too,” Dunn said following a March 29 signing ceremony at the school’s Jimmy Cefalo Center.

Dunn started playing field hockey in fourth grade and continued through Pittston Area’s junior high and high school programs. Along with those teams, she kept active on travel teams, including PA Elite.

Although she said she always wanted to play college hockey, Dunn was not certain about her possibilities. That changed last summer when a team of Pittston Area players participated in a summer Play Day at Wilkes and Dunn caught the attention of coaches there.
