EXETER — Friends and family of Dr. Jennifer Sidari gathered at Fox Hill Country Club Oct. 6 for the Fourth Annual “Dr. Jennifer Sidari Hope is Contagious Golf Tournament.”
Following the tournament, the Sidari family presented $5,000 donations to two local charities.
“Dr. Jen’s Hope Foundation has awarded nearly $400,000 in four years in memory of Jennifer in order to help charities and provide scholarships here in the Wyoming Valley,” said Pete Sidari, Jennifer’s father. “The donations presented to Wyoming Valley Children’s Association and the Greater Hazleton United Way are just examples of the Foundation giving back to important causes fulfilling need, as Jen would have done.”
“We are thrilled with the outpouring support of the tournament over the past four years,” said Bill Goldsworthy, tournament co-chair and longtime friend of the Sidari family. “Dr. Jen’s Hope will never achieve what Jenny would have if she was still with us, but it’s important to keep her memory alive with a commitment to helping others, especially children in need in our community. Jenny was always a strong advocate for children and families.”
Jennifer Sidari, M.D., passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2013, just two weeks after receiving her doctoral degree from The Commonwealth Medical College (now Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.)
Born and raised in West Pittston, Dr. Sidari was also a graduate of Wyoming Area High School and The University of Scranton. Despite her shortened life, her accomplishments are innumerable. During her studies at TCMC, she volunteered in children’s hospitals and clinics around the world, including South Africa and Haiti. Most of all, Dr. Sidari was known for her contagious smile and selfless personality.
Donations are still being accepted and can be mailed to The Dr. Jennifer Sidari Scholarship Fun, c/o The Luzerne Foundation, 140 Main St Luzerne, PA 18709.
